San Roque’s Semana Santa is a deeply moving and historic celebration, recognized as a National Tourist Interest event in Andalucía. The processions combine centuries-old religious images from Gibraltar (14th–18th century) with the unique charm of Andalusian traditions. Every procession reflects both faith and history, commemorating the city’s founding in 1704 by Gibraltarian exiles, and continues to captivate locals and visitors alike.
The main procession route passes through the Historic-Artistic Monumental Ensemble of San Roque, including streets such as Plaza de la Iglesia, General Lacy, Almoraima, San Felipe, and surrounding areas.
Thousands of locals and visitors participate in this unforgettable week of faith, culture, and tradition. The nine brotherhoods of San Roque present their pasos through the historic city centre, culminating on Viernes Santo with the spectacular Procesión Magna del Santo Entierro.
