The traditional landing of the legionnaires in Málaga during Holy Week 2026 will take place on Maundy Thursday, 2 April 2026. The Tercio Alejandro Farnesio IV de Ronda will arrive at Muelle 2 (Palmeral de las Sorpresas) to participate in the transfer and enthronement of the Christ of the Good Death ✝️, one of the most popular and emotional events in the city.
About half an hour after the landing, the legionnaires will move to Plaza Fray Alonso de Santo Tomás, arriving around 10:30 a.m. From there, they will carry the Most Holy Christ of the Good Death and Ánimas to its processional throne at Santo Domingo Church ⛪. In some sections, the Christ is carried by hand 💪, in an act full of solemnity and respect.
During the route, the legionnaires will sing the iconic hymn “El Novio de la Muerte”, which says:
"I am a man whom fate wounded with a beast’s claw; I am a bridegroom of death who will unite in a strong bond with such a loyal companion."
This moment usually moves the audience deeply 😢👏, who accompany the procession with applause and tears, making the Landing of La Legión an unforgettable and tradition-filled event in Málaga’s Holy Week 🌿✨.
