🏇 Sanlúcar Beach Horse Races – A Unique Sporting Tradition

Experience one of the most spectacular summer events in southern Spain: the famous horse races on the beach of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. A truly unique spectacle where sport, tradition and the sea come together at sunset. 🌅

📍 Location

The races take place along the entire beach of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, which stretches for approximately 2 km and is divided into several well-known areas:

• Bajo de Guía – near the fishing district and starting point of the races
• La Calzada – close to the Calzada Duquesa Isabel promenade
• Las Piletas – the finish line of the races

Access to the beach is completely free, allowing visitors to enjoy the races from the sand just like a normal day at the beach.

The organizing body, the Sociedad de Carreras de Caballos, sets up a special race area at the finish line with additional services:

• 🎫 Official betting points
• 🍹 Bar and refreshments
• 🪑 Seating stands
• 📺 Large screens showing the races live
• 🐎 Viewing area where you can see the horses before each race

Entry to this official enclosure requires a ticket.

Tickets can be:

• purchased at the entrance ticket office, or
• bought in advance online when available.

⏱️ Race Schedule

Each race day features 3 to 5 horse races, with around 30 minutes between each race.
