Matute (Ignacio Dávila), born in Ferrol in 1977, studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as Printmaking and Applied Arts to the Wall.
His career began with printmaking, a discipline for which he has received important recognitions, including the 🏅 National Prize for Young Printmakers from the National Calcography (2005) and an Honourable Mention at the XXIV National Engraving Awards (2018). His work is held by institutions including the National Library of Spain and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Community of Madrid. 🖼️
🌊 Since 2013, based in San Roque, his work has also been inspired by the landscapes of the Campo de Gibraltar, Tarifa, Los Alcornocales and Sotogrande.
