Discover Castellar Zoo: A Sanctuary for Rescued Animals
Welcome to Castellar Zoo, a haven for animals rescued from dire situations. Established as a private initiative in 1998 and opening its doors to the public in 2002, our rescue center has a rich history of providing sanctuary to animals seized by authorities such as the police, Guardia Civil (SEPRONA), and customs officials from Algeciras and Tarifa.
Our mission began with a commitment to care for animals victimized by the black market. These creatures, often neglected and abandoned, found a new lease on life under our care. As custodians, we ensure that each animal receives the best possible treatment, helping them thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
Over the years, Castellar Zoo has evolved into a popular attraction, celebrated for the unique and close interactions it offers between visitors and animals. Our goal is to create lasting, natural bonds that leave a memorable impact on all who visit.
